Digital Strategy for Smart City Project
The client, an IoT solution provider, took on a smart city project with the end-client, a growing metropolis in the Middle East. The project consisted of five digital workstreams, and the client sought support of aΒ digital strategy consultantΒ to validate and implement one of the workstreams βUrban Mobility and Transportation.β
ConsultportΒ proposed 5 strong candidates within 96 hours. The client interviewed all candidates and selected a former BCG Digital Ecosystems Project Lead with extensive experience working on smart city projects. The consultant started working for the client 1 week after the initial request.
The consultant firstΒ engaged in discussions with senior management of the client to gain a clear understanding of the regionβs strategic goals and expectations from the smart city plan. Afterward, heΒ analyzed the current smart city plan to
evaluate strategy alignment and feasibility for implementation.Β Collaborating with the client, the consultant produced a refined version of the strategic planΒ to align the βUrban Mobility and Transportationβ workstream to the smart city plan.
The pilot programs for the smart city roadmap validated the proposed initiatives and demonstrated measurable improvements in mobility, congestion management, and resident satisfaction.
